Check your 2020 C8 to Assure this Update was done - 12/26/21 02:39 AM
3G networks will soon go dark and that includes your 2020 C8 Corvette
T-Mobile is set to shut down its 3G network in January 2022, AT&T’s next in February 2022, and Verizon goes last in December 2022.
As we know, most distributed generation solar projects depend on these 3G networks to enable remote monitoring, so in order to maintain continuity of operations, all 3G devices need to be replaced with 4G LTE compatible devices before these network shutdowns occur.
System owners who don’t make the upgrade in time might face ramifications, such as:
A GM bulletin is that if you have an OnStar OTA update (Telematics Update N202298820) installed on or after September 10, 2020 you have nothing to worry about.
If you have been refusing all the OTA updates, you might have something to worry about.
As your Onstar will be dead and also would not be able to do OTR software TSB updates
Copied from the Bulletin No.: 20-NA-196 Date: November, 2020:
"Certain vehicle radio systems may show an Update History in the radio menu.
Before proceeding with diagnostics or part replacements, check the Update History for an OnStar update installed on or after September 10, 2020.
The update version number could vary based on OnStar generation, vehicle Year, Make, and Model. 1.1.
If an OnStar update was installed on or after September 10, 2020, then this bulletin does not apply."
