Nick Tandy is set to replace Oliver Gavin as a full-season driver in Corvette Racing’s lineup in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year.

Multiple sources have confirmed that the longtime Porsche factory driver will make the switch to GM, taking over driving duties of the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R alongside Tommy Milner for the 2021 season.

It comes as the latest high-profile driver move within the IMSA WeatherTech Championship paddock & amid Porsche’s exit from the GTLM class.

Tandy, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans overall in 2015 as well as all other major races with the German manufacturer, claimed what is likely his final victory as a Porsche driver in Saturday’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Understanding is the 36 year old Englishman had been in the mix for Corvette seat over the past 3 months, with a deal having been recently secured.
A C8.R Corvette racing spokesperson declined comment when asked about this, stating they will their 2021 lineups at a later date.
No word has been given on when that announcement will be made.

C8.R Corvette, which won the GT Le Mans drivers, teams & manufacturers’ championships, is expected to have another change to its 2021 lineup with Marcel Fassler’s contract not having been renewed.

Seems that ex-BMW factory driver Alexander Sims is the leading candidate to replace the Swiss driver, who had been the third driver in the No. 4 car.

Nicky Catsburg, meanwhile, appears set to return to the No. 3 Corvette alongside newly crowned class champions Jordan Taylor and Antonio Garcia.
It would thus leave Gavin, who was announced as stepping down from full-time driving duties, without a place in the team’s lineup altogether next year.
