Well Everyone, I am sitting in a Holiday Inn in Knoxville, TN, 850 miles from home. I took the Vette for it's last road trip of the year, before I put it away to fix the oil leak, install the water injection, and mold in the rear brake scoops from JR's favorite vender, Ernie. Hey what can I say, I like the way his scoops look, and they use the stock Z06 ducting to bring the air around the tire.
Anyway, the car ran so damn good with the latest JR tune. DIC readings were as follows, after reset from start, (I considered running an Ease report, hehehe). Average speed, 76.8MPH, ( I took it easy this time, my last run from Bowling Green had an AVERAGE speed in the low eightes), Elapsed time, 11 hours+/-, Average MPG 29.3!!!!!! Yep, that's my 500 HP economy car out there in the parking garage. hehehe Thanks JR, money MORE than well spent!!!
What was interesting was how much a few MPH would do to the gas milage. 70MPH would net you over 31mpg, go to 75 and it dropped to 30, 78 would keep it in the 29.6 range, but over 80 would drop it to 29mpg. after a couple of 100+ mph bursts, she dropped to low 28s, and I had to pedal it at 75 mph to get back to 29+. Had to blow off those Audis and Rustangs that kept pestering me though, and keep the Corvette marque in proper standing.

The gas mileage is great. It sounds like JR has done you well. <img src="graemlins/cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Good to hear Mark and once you get the WI in and more timing can be cranked in the car will do even better.
In looking at Richard's results the WI will be a good positive and help the nasty ping/knock from making the engine going Boom.

Enjoy the car, I am glad its running much better then when you 1st contacted me.

I have told a few people before about my JR tune and in this new forum it may be a good time to revisit.
I have spent about $5K on boltons to my 98 C5 Coupe it was a stick and had be OK but no screamer. TPIS headers added a bunch of torque. I had shifter problems and went to the B&M Ripper with a Tall MOMO Graphite knob, then the clutch fried twice so I went to the McLeod Alum flywheel and Heavy duty pressure plate, Master Cylinder and Z06 Slave.
The car rang pretty good but had a ping at the big end of 6,000.
I though I needed a lower gear and went to the Mallet 3.73 rear end.
All this helped but I kept getting a Knock Sensor error then my Battery pucked all over the PCM.
At this time I was encouraged to join Team ZR1, and meet JR on the web.
Several months later I bought Ease and LS1 Edit, and let him have at it.
After the third pass JR had transformed my Engine behavior.
He also diagnosed weak O2 sensors, low fuel pressure, hot IAT and intake vaccum leaks.
Once all the little issues were adresses then the last tune, and WOW!
The Cold air box, new O2 sensors and retorqued Intake, reset fuel pressure regulator all added up to a solid tune of the PCM.
We gained HP and Torque, drivibility, zero knock, gobs of spark advance to red line and just tire smoking ability through third gear. OK run flats but I want you to know JR made this car run like it had a new bigger engine. Revs came super fast, torque never quite, hit rev linmit all the time. And with my new shifter and clutch turnoff traction control this beast would lose it real easy.
Now, we are working toward a new level, 01 PCM update, 85mm MAF, Snow WI and retune. JR is a tough diagnostician. He can see cause and effect and still make sense out of wierdness to effect performance and reliability.
If you have done anything to you LSx and have not had JR simply look at a Ease scan you are just missing the boat. With that step JR can tell you what you need to fix, change or take off.
I had a TPIS MAF that he had me remove and go back to stock, the power went up! Go figure.
If you buy a JR read of a Ease Scan you will be impressed, then you will likely go on to get a real tune.
It will transform your car like you can't imagine.
And he will tell you what to fix that you think is just fine.

I had a similar experience, although not as much has been done to my car. Oil contaminated MAF, had to ditch the power duct and ported throttle body a dealer sold me (also sold me the BlackWing and I let them install it...reason for oil contaminated MAF). During the header install, I boogered a pigtail connector to the #5 injector, and broke the #7 spark plug. JR was able to point them all out, and get the tune done. Sooooo niiiiiicce!
I can't wait to get the WI on the car and get it re-tuned!
