I'd be interested in an LS6 engine for my car. Another forum had someone putting a 7.0L engine in his and he was selling his LS6 for $6800. This was some time back. Is this a decent price for an LS6?

Really I'm just keeping an eye out for an engine. Nothing wrong with mine, but a stouter engine to autocross with and later SC would be great. My class in SCCA Solo2 is ASP. I can modify anything accept drivetrain. But dropping a Z06 tranny and engine in is legal! It would be way sweet to add some strength to the bottom end, and some horsepower to boot!

Let me know what you think!

Keep in mind the LS6 changes GM did were in 2002 so an older one does not have the go fast changes such as better heads, valve stems, better reducing oil fumes by crank etc.

Starting with '02 new cam grind and because of that the valves are 0.6 mm longer to compensate for changes to the camshaft base circle.
Also starting in '02 the heads were constructed differently then the older sand molded type to newer ones are semi-permament mold casting.
Claim is the newer heads are about 6-10 HP more over pre '02

Had you considered a LS2 Iron Block. Yeah it is a truck motor but .060 bore nad 4 stroke and you got a 409 Cu In Chevy. You can get 11.3. to 1 or 9 to 1 for a huffer.
SLP makes it a 402 stoke bore short block for $3,500 and Several guys make the 409 Short, More sells it for like $8-9K
Its an idea! cool

Interesting idea. However, I currently just autocross the car, and occasionally drag. With the kind of driving I do, I'd hate to mess with the front/rear weight ratios. I'd imagine the iron block would add 1-200 lbs. That's significant! The other consideration is I run ASP in SCCA, which is basically a stock motor, but I can alter intake and exhaust. The reason for the Z06 heads and cam is they are production parts on a Corvette, thus adding them to my car still leaves me "technically" stock, but I get the added giddyap!!!
