From Teammate Jeff,

PCM Removal Instructions:

o Step # 1: Remove the right (passenger side) wheel.

o Step # 2: Remove the black plastic access plate inside the wheel well, five 7mm screws in the wheel well area and three more down below. Completely remove this cover. Don’t try to cut corners by just pulling the cover back.

o Step # 3: Remove the cove plate, two more 7mm bolts, this makes it easier to see what your doing thru the cove opening, especially the bolt that you will loosen in step # 5 below.

o Step # 4: Now the PCM and drive-by-wire (TAC) modules are exposed. The TAC module is the smaller of the two and is secured to the PCM bracket. Do not remove the TAC module. There are two brackets, an outer and inner bracket. The PCM is the shinny larger box behind the inner bracket. Completely remove the (RIGHT) 7mm bolt holding this inner bracket.

o Step # 5: Loosen (NO NOT REMOVE) the left 7mm bolt for this inner bracket. This is hard because there's little room to work. The best way to do this is with a deep 7mm socket (which I didn't have) because a short 7mm socket with the typical small 3/8th extension will be too long.

o Step # 6: From underneath unscrew the two 80-pin PCM connectors bolts, these 7mm bolts in the center of the connectors do not detach from the connectors. As you are loosing these two connector screws the connectors will begin to separate from he PCM on one side only. Once the connector screws are loose pull the connectors out from the side that is closest to the PCM. They will separate from the PCM.

o Step # 7: Pull the PCM out. The PCM is on 2 tracks to the right and left where the inner bracket bolts are. It's in very tight so don't be too alarmed if it is hard to pull out. Also be sure to swing upward the inner bracket that secures the PCM allowing you to pull the PCM out. BTW the TAC module will swing up with this inner bracket as it is attached to it.

o Step # 8: For me the two 80-pin connector gaskets partially separated from the connectors on the PCM side so I took them completely off and cleaned them using water and then cleaned out the gasket groves on both sides with a toothpick and stored them with the screws and other parts while the PCM was shipped on its merry way to JR.
o NOTE: Bubble wrap is best for PCM packaging.

PCM Installation Instructions:

Before installing connectors check them carefully and clean them and the pins if need be.
Make sure the orange connector gaskets are seated into connector.
Also check for any battery acid damage to all parts, wires and connectors since its known for stock battery to leak acid and cause wierd problems.
Make sure connector is evenly going in when screwing them down and do not allow them to cock on an angle else a pin could get bent or pushed back.

Step # 1: Opposite of removal. It’s just that simple. You’ll reattach the 80-pin connectors “after” you’ve installed the PCM module. They are color coded, red and blue.

Just like to add that if you have A&A Rocker Rails installed know that if you run on them long enough getting to the PCM can be a chore. The front of the rail tends to bend and clamp down on the panel.
