When pushing the Corvette hard into corners, there is a good chance the engine could get starved out of getting engine oil due to a small or ill designed oil pan.

In the case of the C5 Corvette, the oil pan is shallow and lacks windage trays.

This is not good when your racing or taking corners very fast and tight for oil gets sloshed to the side and oil pump sucks air and not oil.

To solve that the Rebel was operated on.
I installed an oil sump to protect the engine under those harsh conditions.

This unit is made by Accusump and it holds two quarts of oil. It is tied into the "IN" side of the plate that replaced the oil filter for the oil heat exchanger function.

It maintains about 30 lbs minimum of air pressure so that when needed the 2 quarts of oil will supply the needs of the oil pump when levels are low and also is a pre-oiler.

This means when the car is first turned on, D/C power to the sump opens the value and pumps the oil up before engine has started.

Finding a place free and long enough for this sump was a chore. I finally found a spot and this is how it looks installed :

Being the oil filter was moved to allow for the oil heat exchanger, this then allows for a much larger and better oil filter to be used.
Here is a compare:

Looks like it is mounted at the rear of the inner fender panel, or the frame, with one line forward to the remote filter, the other to the engine. Where is the remote at?

Would 3 quarts be better?

Yes it is mounted to the frame on drivers side behind the gill panel.

3 quarts would not fit and 2 is enough ( plus the oil in the hose) for the short time it is needed.

I put the remote oil filter above the little fender panel where the AIR pump is ( below the left headlight area)

It you do not move the oil filter then just one hose needed to the sump but the stock filter to me is too small in volume and is too close to headers causing excess heat to filter
