I AM NEW TO THIS SIGHT AND I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. I FIGURED THIS MIGHT BE THE PLACE TO GET ANSWERS . SINCE THERE IS SO MUCH GREAT INFO ON THIS SITE. I AM LOOKING AT PUTING A H/C PACKAGE IN MY 2000 C5 A4. I WANT THE CAR TO BE STREETABLE. I WILL BE USING THIS CAR FOR A DAILY DRIVER NOT MUCH RACEING IF ANY PROBABLLY AT THE STRIP. I HAVE ABOUT 5 GRAND TO THROW AT THIS PROJECT. I REALLY DONT KNOW WHERE TO START. I ALREADY HAVE A BLACKWING,LS6 INTAKE,MALLETT HEADERS,3:42 REAR END AND A PT 2400 STALL. MY FIRST QUESTION IS CAN I PORT MY LS1 HEAD AND STILL MAKE GOOD POWERR. 2ND QUESTION I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT DEGREE OF CAMS WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR I KNOW THERE IS A TON OUT THERE. 3RD DO I NEED NEW INJECTORS. 4TH DO I NEED TO GET A PORTED TB OR IS THE STOCK ONE GOOD. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE OVER 400 RWHP AND TQ OR CLOSE TO IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS ADAM

I highly suggest you do NOT port the TB or MAF, it gains nothing, can cause surging, confuses the PCM and is a waste of your money. In 100's of cars I tuned that had some air porting the end result was the engine ran better when customer put the stock MAF, airbridge and TB back on.

As to CAM, do a search here on forum to find content about CAMs but being you have a A4 and it functions best with the correct line pressure and engine vaccum. I'd suggest not going lower then a 114 LSA else the loss of low end vaccum will effect the low end, idle and shift points.

Yes you do need a bit larger injector, I suggest the SVO 30 which Ford spec'd for their racing but they are the same brand as what C5 uses but with our higher fuel rail pressure they are 36 lbs/hr over your stock 26 lb thus when needed the SVO 30s can flow 30% more. You can buy them new for aobut $215 a set and only take you at most 45 minutes to do the swap.

Since you have a Blackwing you might look at the Icebox which is a cold airbox for the BW we designed and sell.

Also to make all this work well together and perform well I suggest a custom performance tune which is our main business. With a true custom tune you'll see good overall performance gains of HP and Tq but also the A4 will shift better and engine will run smoothly over all engine RPM/load and conditions.

Porting your stock heads will be just fine with also better valve springs to allow a bit higher rev limiter setting.
You might consider having your PCM flashed as example with a 2002 Z06 ( my '99 Mallett 435 LS1 has a 2003 Z06 flash) calibration and switching to a STOCK 01 or newer 85 mm MAF to match the bit more flowing intake manifold. This then assures the larger MAF fits GM's model within PCM as to correct airmass and grms per cylinder

As it is now with the changes you made really require a good custom tune

This you could do for less then 5K.

thanks for the info . i for got to tell that the car has been tunned already with ls1 edit. also i do plan on buying the box for the bw. my question now is why reflash the pcm to a newer model vehicle. also why 85mm maf is that because thats what the ls6 intake manifold uses on the zo6 and if i whent with a lsx intake manifold should i still use the 85mm maf. i dont know if theres any gain going from a ls6 to a lsx. i know i wont need a 90mm manifold. thanks for your help

If you intend to match the MAF to the 01 and newer intake then I would go with a 85 mm stock 01 and newer 85 mm (850 CFM) MAF rather then the '99s 75 mm (750 CFM) MAF.

If so then to really make it work well go with a newer PCM flash since its operating software and calibration was designed for the 85 mm where a '99 is not
Of course if using a newer MY flash and if your using a single user version of LS1edit then you'd have to buy another license to use on that newer flash which is not a issue for those of us with unlimited LS1edit.

If you do not go with newer flash then stay with the 75 mm.

With a 8 coil Ign system there is no need for fancy high priced plug wires so save your money and use stock wires.
If using headers slip koolsocks on them to prevent header heat damage.

You may find with your mods that going 1 step colder plug like a NGK TR6 with a 0.40 gap is better then stock ones at 0.50/60 gap.

All intakes starting with 2001 model year used the same intake manifold as the LS6 so if car is 97-00 then its fine to swap to newer intake and I'd leave the cooling/air bleed lines installed that go from one side of engine to the other.
