I have torture tested many different pads and compounds over the past 11 years, and I thought I would share some of my findings based on my experiences.
First of all, these comments are based on using the car strictly under extreme track useage. ie. what's good for sustained high temp. road course abuse, isn't gonna be very good for ORR or street.
I run a lot of track events each season as either a competitor, instructor, or just as a "G junky"

on any open track day I can get to! I want to go to the track and *not worry* about stopping, fade, or excessive component wear. The only pad that has consistantly met those challenges, (plus left foot braking on top of that!) is the Performance Friction 93 compound. I have run these on stock J55 brakes, as well as Brembo 4 pistion calipers and Wilwood 6pot calipers. On the stock J55's I would get ~1,000 track miles out of the rotors and almost 2,000 track miles out of the pads! I keep "hearing" on the various BB's, and seeing it at the tracks I run, that guys are tearing up their rotors and blowing through a set of HT8 pads in a weekend or less

I couldn't handle the hassle, the wrenching time, or the cost of changing pads and rotors constantly.
So the bottom line is: yes, they are more expensive, and they do out last and out-perform any other pad I have ever used.
Let's hear your feedback :-)
