The ZO6 has a unique racetrack-ready dry sump engine oil system that differs from
the lubrication system found on other Corvettes.
A special procedure is used to check the oil level on ZO6 models.
• To begin. engine must be fully warmed-up to operating temperature
• Cold oil will not give a correct oil reading
• Turn the engine off – wait at least 5 minutes, but not more than 20 to allow oil to settle
• Although an oil level anywhere within the outermost holes on the dipstick is normal, a level at the middle hole is the goal when driving aggressively
• Do not add too much oil. If the oil level is above the third hole on the dipstick, engine leaks and damage may result
One more thing to remember, when adding or changing ZO6 oil, the recommended oil is Mobil One 5W-30
