Here is a fair shot at six C6 Z06s.
Swowing is
S is for stock
T is for after our 1st pass of tune
TW is if we then tweaked the tune.

This shows for best performance after the main tune is done and PCM does it's relearn then one more tune cyle is done to tweak what needs it.

All values were gotten from using a Ease OBD-II scanner in GMLAN mode and we have one cross check after tuning where Z06 owner used a load bearing dyno that was local to us.

Values when scanning were done are UNCORRECTED

Notice Rob's results, you see a loss in performance after tweak was done he forced the muffler damper to stay open all the time

Also Steve added that Halltech aircleaner and so called Aircharger and no real gains from it.

Did he have the plastic piece that cuts into the shroud to gather air from the grill area installed?

It looks like an upside down scoop to force air toward the aircleaner.

It looks like a good idea to get cooler air to the filter but is way overpriced. I think it sells for around $150 which is much better than the introductory price of $250 for a $20 piece of plastic.

Yes that POS is installed but its mostly useless

1. at idle there is not going to be anything but the hot air from the radiators.
2. being heat raises at low speeds or traffic in front of front end the aircleaner still would be sucking in the hot engine air and why as reported the IAT was 140 deg !
3. when car is moving and being airflow is not going to be freely moving ( if it did car would have lots of front end lift) but being aircleaner is not capped off it will still be getting hot engine air and why our Icebox isolates the filter from engine bay and only air it gets then is from outside.

Review my other thread on this as clealry it took minutes once car was movng to go from 140 to 80ish deg temps whereas with the Icebox any speed over 15 MPH and IAT drops to whatever outside temp is.

4. that piece will redirect the air from flowing through radiator and could cause turbulance.

The Aircharger is similar to the mod that I tested and sent you scans of a few months ago. The only difference is I just bent the shroud down and held it in place with spacers to catch the air.

As was shown with that test it looks like the Air Charger is also a failure.

I am looking forward to the results of the Blackwing/Icebox test.

Nice job on the tune BTW.

As mentioned in the other thread the airbridge ( nothing but cheap plastic and retains heat) and their filter have no mounting and the whole thing flops around putting stress on the coupler to the throttlebody.

The purpose of me going back and looking at 15 spreadsheets of the results above was to see what the gains were and see if plotting 6 Z06s all reacted about the same ( not considering where each car is to elevation, weather and different types of gas) to tune changes.

Clearly as I have always said and proven again you cannot bang a tune out on some chassis dyno, you need to do main tune, drive car a few days for PCM to relearn and adjust and then retest and tweak the tune.
Two of the above did not get that as in 1 owner decided after main tune to put in a CAM and other mods and not get a tweak done and it shows in the results above.

JR, I am considering a Z06 next year ('08 model)to race in a "stock" class in SCCA solo/autocross competition. I'm pretty sure tuning is not legal. My question to you is how easy is it for someone to spot a tune (other than kicking their butts) when looking at a flash assuming they know what they're looking at? I'm just toying with the idea, but I think your magic on a Z could really help me kill the competition. I also want to do some HPDE's with the car, so in a stock class in NASA I could annihilate some people...worse case they kick me out?

Greg I assume this is the last year for the C6 Z06 and if so and you wait for next year you'll not find one
But 2006 MY Z06s can be had now for a good saving though the 2008 has redesigned trannie and shift patterns so it would be the year to own.

No one can tell if car was tuned unless they downloaded the PCM and compared it to a stock flash calibration but if you lock the PCM with LS2edit they would not be able to do the download.

Tune will really wake the Z06 up for I think GM had degraded the true performance within the tune.
