Ed,
I do not own a A4 and in owning, racing, and hacking on my Corvettes since 1974,
I only once owned a auto trannie Corvette ( a '77) but I was crazy at the time cause I was married :-)
Just me, but a dead stick is to me like waxing :-))

I go by fact, thus I went through G.M's published " Manufacturers Motor Vehicle Specifications" document
they had to supply to the AAMA to get the car approved by the feds.

The one I have from G.M is for MY 1999, thus not sure if for a MY 2000 any difference.
Thus what I am giving you is directly from specs G.M had to supply at time of fed testing/approval.

The Redline and Max RPM of A4 is 6,000 RPMs.

Max upshift speed is :

1st to 2nd gear = 48 MPH
2nd to 3rd = 90 MPH
3rd to 4th = 146 MPH

Max kickdown speed is :

4 to 3 = 134 MPH
3 to 2 = 78 MPH
2 to 1st = 38 MPH

Min overdirve speed = 35 MPH
Max ratio at stall = 1.91

Keep in mind the A4 has a Torque Management circuit and can effect performance if non stock torque convertor is used, or change of final gear ratio if A4's functioning software is not re-calbrated.
Also the Torque convertor circuit (TCC) can have an ill effect on performance if it also is not tuned to the mod changes.
I find in tons of PCM tracing I have done this year that so called custom PCM tuniers are not properly tuning the A4 and just screwing with shift points to make them stiffer shifts and thus causing T.M or TCC to be kicking in and out.
