Teammate Jim found when we were testing a special PCM tune that the K&N CAI design is faulty for the Z06 that due to heat distorts and allows hotter and dirty air to be taken into the engine

Jim says :

have a K & N air intake system for my 2007 Z06. After checking on a forum I learned that some people were having a problem with the air bridge warping where the filter attaches.

Last night I ran my finger along the edge on the bottom side of the air bridge and felt a rather large gap allowing unfiltered air into my engine.
I removed the K & N system and reinstalled the stock system.

I would advise staying away from this system at least until they resolve the problem.
I am also suspicious that the K & N unit holds heat soak because by IAT was in the mid 90’s doing highway driving (78 MPH) and the ambient temperature was 82.

The temperature held up during a 7 to 8 mile highway cruise. But that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Scanner data showed it was taking about 3 minutes from sitting idle where ait temps would get to about 130 degrees to cool down while driving.
