Condition
Some customers may comment on a clicking noise that can be heard from the passenger side floor (foot) area when the brake pedal is pressed.
Cause
This noise may be caused by the type of stop lamp relay that is installed in the vehicle.
A select number of these vehicles may have been produced with a relay that exhibits slightly louder operational characteristics than the original relay. Noise level is the only concern with these vehicles, electronically the relay functions normal.
Correction
First verify that the vehicle falls within the VIN breakpoint range. Then attempt to duplicate the concern by starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal.
The click noise should be heard from the passenger side floor (foot) area. Fold down the kick-up panel at the right front floor to gain access to the BCM/Relay block.
If the relay is black in color and is P/N 15328865, then it should be replaced with P/N 12193606, which has quieter characteristics. If the click noise comes from the passenger side instrument panel area, this bulletin does not apply.
Tip
All mechanical relays have some level of noise when operated.
