Corvette Painted Roof
Corvette regular Coupe and ZO6 models may become delaminated if exposed to the
right combination of high heat and humidity.
Sequence of roof repairs:
• Original C6 Coupe’s painted roof panel – polycarbonate ABS plastic.
(Required repair)
• The next version – twice-baked polycarbonate.
(Required repair)
• Next - temporary fix developed – using adhesive foam at dealership.
• This was followed by the supplier performing the foam repair prior to releasing
the roof to the market. There have been no failures from the roofs modified
with foam at the supplier.
• The delamination concern is resolved with final version of the roof (made from
Sheet Molded Compound or SMC.)
• SMC top started reaching showrooms in August 2006.
• 2007 models equipped with this version.
Campaign #06041 has been initiated affecting all 2005 and 2006 models (optional
transparent top is not affected).
The painted roofs on regular Coupe models will be replaced in the southern states first – followed by the northern states – along with all ZO6 models everywhere simultaneously.
