In process of installed the EVS 1590 supercharger on a 2008 LS3 with A6 Corvette

Come back for updates as the install is completed, custom tune, testruns and results. Have about 8 hours labor at this time.
Suspect total will be about 24 hours of labor

Here is a BEFORE testrun results.
Run was 44,000 feet duration of 15 minutes

Has a crappy Breathless tune.
As seen even with E10 gas which would lean up AFR about 8% it still is running up to 14% too rich.
Also seen is misfires and max flywheel torque at about 375 ft/lbs at 400 HP.

Has a Breathless CAI, weather was 50 degrees, airbridge to intake ran a average of 58 deg to a maximum of 88 deg.

Maximum WOT timing of 24 degrees.
Maximum airflow was 41 lbs.

Comparing stock tune to the Breathless we find tune was junk
Just part of what was seen,

WOT set way too rich
Torque management turned off, being a A6 will have too much stress
Rev limiter set as high as 6,900 RPM for lower gears with stock engine.
Wheelhop turned off
Cat over temp protection turned off even though the CATs are installed. sex

Day 2 was almost a waste.
GM re-designed the pulley crank bolt for the C6.
It is larger and has a larger flat surface to bottom of head bolt

Took good 3 hours to take front end apart to get the steering rack out to make room to get to crank bolt

Spend another 3 hours trying to get crank bolt out using impact gun, breaker bar, even a 4 foot steel pipe to it for more torque and ended up breaking 2 sockets and bending a breaker bar and crank bolt still would not budge ! puke

Getting a stronger impact gun that has a lot more torque tomorrow to see if that does the job but there is always the chance the impact will have an bad effect to the crank position sensor

2nd day of EVS install

For day 3, using a 450 ft/lb torque impact wrench with a 120 PSI air compressor still would not break the crank bolt loose.

Then got a very large breaker bar and using a 5 foot steel pipe on the bar finally broke bolt loose.

Not happy that the heat exchanger for this supercharger sits in front of A/C and radiator to limit air flow

By the end of today almost all wrenching is done, just need to put front fascia back on, inner fenders, front wheels.

User install document is lousy, lists wrong toll sizes like sockets, images very small so hard to tell where a part is to be installed, some images missing, install steps missing.

A few parts of the kit were missing and the internal fuel pump case was broken

Then off to test first cut of tune and the tweak the tune

Last day of install and tweaking the tune

Started the day by using the SCT canned tuner. To assure not violating engine warranty the car owner paid for by the EVS supercharger their tune of the PCM and TCM for A6 had to be installed.

Design flaws when it flashed the PCM corrupted the TCM and changed the cal ID
This meant no other tuner tool could be used.
Trannie now was non functional

SCT blames Edelbrock as SCT sells the canned block box tuner, it then is up to Edelbrock to have the proper functions and tunes in it.

Edelbrock then blamed that the car owner had allowed Breathless Performance who did a lousy tune before hand that their tuning tool expects a total GM stock flashes to be in PCM and TCM.
The vendor who sold the kit for over $6,000 had no answers and all 3 had no fix.

The only way to fix was TCM had to be forced flashed with a stock TCM calibration. Car owner choose to drive to the dealer with A6 not functions well at all.

With the dealer flashing PCM A6 was more workable but the paddle shifters did not work correctly and TCM was not down shifting correctly.

I retuned what the canned tuner tool did as to the PCM

Being trannie is not working correctly there was no way owner could do a test run for maximum HP/Tq

Keep in mind at 3,500 elevation this supercharger puts out about 7 PSI boost but at higher elevation maybe only 4 PSI boost. Stock NA engine at sealevel can do 104 MAP KPA, same stock engine at 3,500 feet is lucky to do 88 MAP KPA

Notice in results maximum MAP KPA was 135 which shows the effects of boost ( negative vacuum)

Here is short video to hear the sound of the EVS

Here is testrun results, but again this is not maximum numbers and will have to be retested when the A6 issues are resolved

At the least there is a flywheel gain of 125 in HP and 150 ft/lbs Tq

This scanner recorded data of this C6 shows the reaction time of going from NA to boost coming on

At the bottom of graph you see elapsed time and graph showing torque, horsepower and MAP.

At this elevation of 3,500 feet the maximum MAP can be is 90 KPA ( where sealevel would be 104 KPA) and you can tell then by MAP data when boost came on and this case up to 135 KPA which is -10 inches of vacuum.

Notice that the time boost came on that within 1/2 second torque went from 338 ft/lbs to 474 ft/lbs.

Update as of this date

Owner contacted me to say the vendor super screwed up and the SCTuner black box they programmed it to flash the A6's TCM with a 4 speed trannie flash !

There is not even a C5 with a A4 that would have had a internal TCM nor any 2008 having a 4 speed.

Owner says it took them 15 TCM flashes to get it right and at this point the dealer had to tear the A6 apart and change parts due to the wrong TCM flash being used.

Even then I do not buy the vendors answer as seen below when the TCM flash before using the SCTuner and then after the tuning tool sees both as a 2008 C6, the code segments are then same and even sees in both as a A6

This says the vendors involved never did the QA testing to assure when their tuner box flashed that valid software was being forced into the TCM and worst is no tuner tool could fix the problem since the tools saw the TCM flash as invalid

Car should be functional by next week and then final tests and tune would be done

Final test and tune on this EVS 1590 supercharger.

Update: in summary.

1. Claims by forum vendors that this kit has been selling like hotcakes for C6s proves to be false.

2. Proof of that is the end findings is the canned black box tuner that comes with this kit had the wrong TCM software that was for a non Corvette 6 speed auto transmission

3. This means no one QA tested this design and that this was the first one being installed so many of these could not have been sold.

4. Worse is the canned tuner box is doing dirty forced flashing as it did not even compare it's software to what version it was flashing into the TCM

5. Being it was the wrong trannie software if caused the A6 trannie to improperly shift.

6. The owner took this 2008 LS3 C6 to a Chevy dealer who using test tools assumed the TCM was bad.

7. Even though car is under full GM warranty of course GM refused to repair under warranty since software found in TCM was hacked thus C6 owner was charged $600 for a new one.

8. With new TCM and GM stock software the functional problems went away. Using the SCT tuner ( that was tuned by HPtuner company) the functional problems returned.

9. it took SCT over 2 weeks and 12 different TCM flashes to figure out wrong software was being used so again this EVS kit has not been installed by other C6s with A6 trannie

10. Their tuner box is a all or nothing, you push a button and it force flashes both the PCM and TCM thus the PCM tune we did for the engine was lost.

11. Finally they correct the TCM and owner gets car back but the engine and A6 trannie do not run well

12. This kit comes with 52 lb/hr fuel injectors and a higher flowing internal fuel pump. Problem is GM does not allow larger injectors in the injector flow table and in scanner data we found no difference in flow with the larger fuel pump

13. This becomes a problem in engine loads where fuel trims are too rich as you cannot go beyond the injector table limits and command the injectors to flow less.

14. Keep in mind since this design has water cooling for intake will reduce lean issues and hence less fuel demands are needed so using too large of fuel injectors will be an issue

Met owner today and I spent 3 hours cleaning up their tunes which are not very good.
As you see in results the gains when we properly custom tune PCM and TCM

Results on left side is testrun with their tunes installed
On right side is with testrun with our custom tune installed
increased torque by 50 ft/lbs and HP up about 90 at flywheel thus the finding is if installing this EVS kit do NOT use their canned tuner for any reason.
