General Motors Co. said Wednesday it is recalling a few dozen 2015 Chevrolet Corvette cars because a part on the rear suspension may not have been properly tightened — the automaker’s first recall of 2015.

The Detroit automaker said it is recalling 43 Corvettes in the United States built between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2 because the “toe link outer ball joint on the rear suspension may not have been properly tightened during the assembly process. The toe link may loosen with the vehicle use and eventually separate.”

That could lead to a reduction in vehicle stability and steering control, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The recall also covers two cars in GM’s possession in Germany and one car in Canada for total of 46 vehicles, GM spokesman Alan Adler said.

GM also said a loose toe link can cause the rear suspension to make loud metallic noises, particularly when the vehicle is traveling around corners or over bumps or potholes.
GM told dealers to tell owners “that shuttle service or some other form of courtesy transportation is available and will be provided at no charge.”

Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged parts.
