Sorry but my view on this tunnel plate is pure hype and nothing but a profit maker for this vendor.
When the C6 1st came out this vendor then claimed since the C6 had a better plate that all C5 owners should buy their plate and now hyping the C6 also needs one.
Fact is the stock plate has 36 monuting bolts, find just one Cx that those bolt holes show any stress, or plate bent, or the frames on each side bent or in fact if there is flexing find cracks even in the floor area.
As for thermal, GM uses thin metal so it does not retain the heat from exhaust.
As it is the plate dead ends at least 1 foot from bellhousing and same for the trannie thus heat would still flow above the plate.
If heat is a issue far cheaper is to take plate off and simply use a thermal blanket where console is but in all the years of owning and racing my 99 C5 heat has never been a real issue.
If the stock plate was moving them also so would everything else including the drivetube and would cause damage to its bearing.
I do not know what this plate weighs but for me less weight overall is best for unsprung weight and HP per XX amount of weight.
