Ricky Taylor got off to a strong start on Friday morning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, leading the opening one-hour TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice with a lap of 1:10.451 in the No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP.
Second-fastest in preparation for Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance was Ozz Negri, who ran 1:10.616 in the No. 60 AERO Ligier JS P2.
Colin Braun was quickest in Prototype Challenge (PC), running 1:11.795 in the No. 54 Flex-Box/Composite Resources ORECA FLM09.
He was followed by Renger van der Zande, running 1:12.142 in a bid for a third consecutive victory in the No. 8 Martini entry.
Nick Tandy led the GT Le Mans (GTLM) competitors with a lap of 1:15.388 in the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR.
Defending Canadian Tire Motorsport Park winner Antonio Garcia was second, running 1:15.771 in the No. 3 Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.
The session was briefly red-flagged for an early incident involving Lucas Luhr, who had light contact with the tire barrier in Turn 3 in the No. 24 IHG Rewards Club BMW Z4 GTLM.
A second incident was for Mikhail Goikhberg, who went off in Turn 5 in the No. 85 JDC/Miller Motorsports UndergroundCellar.com ORECA FLM09 and sustained left-rear suspension damage.
The second TUDOR Championship practice will be a one-hour session beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes Round 5 of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, with the two-hour, 39-minute race beginning at 1:25 p.m. ET.
TUDOR Championship qualifying will follow, beginning at 4:40 p.m. Both the race and qualifying will be streamed live on IMSA.com.
Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance takes the green flag at 12:05 a.m. ET, and will be televised live in the U.S. on FOX Sports 1 beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
