• Chevrolet will for the first time ever offer the Corvette in right-hand-drive guise.
• This move enables factory Corvettes to be sold in wrong-side-of-the-road markets such as the U.K., Japan, and Australia.
• The notable "first" is still dwarfed by the C8 Corvette's bigger first, being the first-ever mid-engine Corvette.
Chevrolet's Corvette has been around since 1953, and through its seven generations before the mid-engine C8 arrived, none were offered with a factory right-hand drive setup.
The 2020 C8 Corvette will be the first to cater to those markets where cars are driven on the left side of the road,
Japan, the U.K., and Australia.
This is groundbreaking, at least for citizens of the markets described above, and it was buried in Chevrolet's extensive press release describing the all-new Corvette.

As Chevy put it:
"Availability in both left and right-hand-drive variants
a first for Corvette." Surely the C8 Corvette's single-transmission offering, an automatic, helped grease the wheels on this additional build variant Chevy needed only move the steering wheel and two pedals from the left side of the car to the right.
So, the Vette is expanding beyond its America-first, left-hand-drive-only layout.
