Defining moments in Corvette history happened March 1-2, 1990 near Fort Stockton, Texas,
when an almost stock, Corvette ZR-1 reset the 24-Hour World Speed Endurance record.
On a 7.712 mile track with no fences to keep wild animals from straying into the path of a car, a group of eight drivers pushed two Corvettes day and night, through intermittent drizzle, snow, and fog at an average of 175.710 MPH, into history.
