JR, if I'm not cross-posting here, I've also heard of LS1 engine oiling problems under side load (loss of pressure). Overfill seems to be a really kludgy solution (which I've also heard of), but dunno what the actual problem is (windage, baffling, capacity, what-have-you). To top this off, GM apparently approves of a max LS1 oil temp of 300F as well as a partial overfill under road racing conditions. Yikes in all cases. Altho I guess they are referring to the stock 5W30 Mobil-1 fill, this still does not sound good, and from what I've heard it's not attributed to heat or total volume loss. I think the serious closed-course road racers are running dry sump or an aftermaker pan, will have to doublecheck though.
