A 21-year-old Michigan man is in custody after he and others apparently cut through the fence of the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green and stole eight Corvettes from the lot. One of those cars was a new 2025 Corvette ZR1.
WNKY reports that all eight Corvettes have been located.
Our friend Mark Thomas shared a read-out of the theft report from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook and the story is even more bizarre as the officials at the plant at first didn’t realize the cars were missing.
At 10:00 am, the Warren County Sheriffs Department found a “new maroon Corvette” with all its stickers and coverings at Laurel Ridge Apartment at 490 Plano Road, which is more than eight miles from the Assembly Plant. Believing the car to be stolen off the lot, the Bowling Green Police Department was contacted to see if the assembly plant had reported a theft. If not, let them know, “they were missing a $160,000 Corvette.”
Security at the Assembly Plant was able to find a hole that thieves had cut in a fence to remove the cars. After doing an inventory check, the assembly plant determined there were eight cars missing. Warren County Sheriffs Officers found a second Corvette at the 500 Plano Road, and a third was located at 769 Plano Road. Several others were located at Cumberland Trace Village Apartments, which are across from the Bowling Green Harley Davidson dealership.
In photos posted to a Bowling Green Facebook page, you can see a Red Corvette ZR1 with the High Wing and there is a police car in the background. In the second photo, the two other Corvettes with this ZR1 are both Z06s, so the thieves were going for the high performance models.
Deantae Walker (21) of Westland, Michigan was arrested and is charged with receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more, fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest.

And another C8 via electronics simply broken in and stolen
SUNRISE, FLA. (WSVN) - A bold thief stole a Corvette straight from the driveway of a home in a Sunrise neighborhood, leaving the owner stunned.
“And he’s gone. Literally like the movie. Gone in 60 seconds,” said Jonathan Stern.
Jonathan Stern woke to quite the surprise Wednesday morning when discovered his 2020 Corvette was missing from the driveway of his home located in the 10000 block of Northwest 20th Court.
“I woke up to go fishing and noticed my car was gone,” said Stern. That’s when Stern said he checked his ring camera, only to see that a masked man approached his vehicle in the wee hours of the morning. “I saw a guy, fully dressed, masked hoodie. He was quick. He just walked up to the door handle, opened it and drove off,” he said.
But it wouldn’t end there.
According to Stern, the suspect first visited the home around 3:45a.m. to reprogram the car, they would then return an hour later and drive off with the pricey ride. “So they took the car at 4:45 a.m., but at 3:45 a.m., they pulled up, stopped in front of the driveway, and you could just hear the car beep so they must’ve reprogrammed the car itself,” he said.
Video captured on a ring camera confirmed Stern’s statements. At 3:45 a.m., when the alleged reprogramming happened, a car came by the house, but the driver never steps outside their car, a few minutes later they drove off. Then at 4:45 a.m., the masked suspect returned and is seen tugging on the door handle.
Hours later, Sunrise Police located the vehicle abandoned off I-95 and Griffin and the suspect in the ring camera video, nowhere to be found. The car was towed and taken to the dealership to be reprogrammed.
Stern is now offering this advice to other drivers. “Install a tracker in your car and put your car in a garage,” he said. The Broward Sheriff’s Office said they have not been able to find the person behind the crime, therefore no arrest have been made.
If you have any information on this crime, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

The below video shows the arrest of Deantae Cortez Walker, a 21-year-old Michigan man who has been charged with the theft of eight new Corvettes from the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Walker can be seen running haphazardly around the parking lot of a Lowe’s store as a Bowling Green officer gives chase and repeatedly warns him to stop running, or he’ll have to tase him. As the suspect rounds a trailer full of pine straw, he stumbles to the ground. That’s when the officer, a yellow taser earlier visible in his hand, is able to catch up with him, though Walker continues to try to get up and escape as the officer struggles to handcuff him before eventually being able to radio headquarters that he has “one in custody.”
The Warren County Sheriff’s Department asked the police department March 22 to investigate the report of a new Corvette at an apartment complex at 490 Plano Road, where a male had left the car and ran.
Once officers arrived, the scope of the alleged crime began to come into focus, with two more stolen Corvettes found nearby. Two more hot ‘Vettes were later found at 280 Cumberland Trace, and eventually a total of eight stolen Corvettes were located by the police and sheriff’s department.
Later that day, police got a tip from a driver for a transport company, who said two individuals asked him to transport three 2025 Corvettes. He grew suspicious when they began to rush him during the loading of the cars, and he also noticed damage to the bottom of one car.
Walker now faces charges of receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more, third-degree fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest. An accomplice is believed to have fled from the parking lot in a Jeep with Ohio tags.
