The below video shows the arrest of Deantae Cortez Walker, a 21-year-old Michigan man who has been charged with the theft of eight new Corvettes from the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Walker can be seen running haphazardly around the parking lot of a Lowe’s store as a Bowling Green officer gives chase and repeatedly warns him to stop running, or he’ll have to tase him. As the suspect rounds a trailer full of pine straw, he stumbles to the ground.
That’s when the officer, a yellow taser earlier visible in his hand, is able to catch up with him, though Walker continues to try to get up and escape as the officer struggles to handcuff him before eventually being able to radio headquarters that he has “one in custody.”
The Warren County Sheriff’s Department asked the police department March 22 to investigate the report of a new Corvette at an apartment complex at 490 Plano Road, where a male had left the car and ran.
Once officers arrived, the scope of the alleged crime began to come into focus, with two more stolen Corvettes found nearby.
Two more hot ‘Vettes were later found at 280 Cumberland Trace, and eventually a total of eight stolen Corvettes were located by the police and sheriff’s department.
Later that day, police got a tip from a driver for a transport company, who said two individuals asked him to transport three 2025 Corvettes. He grew suspicious when they began to rush him during the loading of the cars, and he also noticed damage to the bottom of one car.
Walker now faces charges of receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more, third-degree fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest.
An accomplice is believed to have fled from the parking lot in a Jeep with Ohio tags.
