In order to make the Rebel more stable at high speed races, I ordered a rear wing that is claimed to be just like the one used with the C5Rs.
This puppy is not cheap, just under $1,100 with shipping. It took 8 days from ordering for it to arrive at my door.
I open it to find :
I search and search, find no paper work at all, no installation document, or even a warranty of any kind. I also find the company who made this rear wing to be a
"Breathless Performance Parts" out of Florida.
So here I am right from the start forced to make a long distance ( West to East coast) phone call. I am handed to the owner of the company and I say politly "some how they forgot to put the install document with this shipment" and was told
"There is NO documentation at all. We assume since it is a custom product, people will call anyway with questions"
You'd think at the least they would put a note in the box saying that so paying customers would not be ripping their hair out looking for the normal thing that comes with a product that comes in many pieces, or at least give a few photos of what the product looks like assemblied and mounted on the car.
As it is with techie phone calls, you end up more confused after the call then before.
I figure the parts puzzle out and go to mount wing to rear hatch surface to find one of the mounts was hand made incorrectly preventing it from properly laying flat on hatch surface it bolts through.
Dang, now have to make a 2nd long distance call. I do and the owner answers ( always tells you something when the owner answers a business phone) and I explain what the design built problem is. I explain my car is now in pieces and holes drilled in hatch top. His answer, to fix their screwup, I should either ship that mount to him so they can remake it ( costing the down time, shipping costs and holding my breath for part to come back) or give him my credit card so they could charge me for a new mount now and they send new one and when they get bad one from me, then refund the money for that mount back to me.
Now hows that for quality products and service ?
I say piss on that and using a vise and my temper get the thick metal mount bent in a way it now lays flat onto hatch.
They claim this has 6 postions to adjust wing angle but the holes drilled will not really allow that many adjustments and the holes they drilled are larger then the bolts supplied thus slop in the fit.
Also the bolts used to mount to hatch are 4 large STOVE bolts, that's right round heads with a hex, but their holes are not square but round and thus bolts cannot be properly tightened for the head just spins and you have no way to hold flat/rounded head.
Installed it looks like:
As you can see they did no design work to do better air movement around the mounting hardware that looks lousy.
Yes I am breathless to say the least.
"Can" this vendor from any future business.
