Another horror story from the tuning GOD in the Hayward Ca area, Ole Rick of Synergy Motorsports is still doing the lazy way of tuning and still having pissed off customers.
Owner of a 1998 Camaro who had this done to the engine
414 cu motor, ~14:1 Comp
C5R ET Heads
Solid Roller
Beck Sheetmetal Intake
60 lb Motron Inj
Accufab 105mm TB
ARE Dry Sump
Cam 280's and near .800 lift, I could double check
12 Bolt
TH400
2" Primary, 3.5" collector Kooks
Speed Density Tune
He says :
The motor is a Solid Roller motor. It is not a boost motor. This tune is for all motor and timing will need to be pulled when I spray. It is a nitrous motor. I built the engine for spinning it up to 9000 RPM, but have not gone that fat yet. The motor is now broken in and I will be going higher. The O2 readings I am using are off of the LM1 that I have to the car since it was decided to get ride of the stock O2 (Race Gas).
Knock sensors were turned off due to the Solid Roller Valve train. This is because they might create false knock. I don't run the ABS unit anymore, Vats is turned off because of a firing up problem I had before, the low and high octane tables are the same probably because this is strictly a race gas car (track only). Do you think it is possible to tune off of the LM1 Wideband I have, MAP, IAT, and TPS or anything else that I miight still have working? What do you recomend? Most importantly I need to pull timing for my nitrous as I have a direct port that I will be using soon for a big money race!
He came to me as the engine is not running correctly and due to Rick's handywork in tuning the owner has zero real way to diag the engine as the tune has turned off :
MAF, VSS, ABS, traction control, All O2s, misfire, knock, closed loop, short and long term fuel trims, torque management, most DTC error codes, etc and owner only has ONE wideband O2 and the POS HPtuners scanner.
As seen the scanner is useless since all important feedback sensors are no longer functional

For a NA engine this is a bomb waiting to be lit off.
