For whatever reason car owners think they can buy huge performance gains by spending $600-$800 for so called 3rd party intake manifolds.
For several years we have had owners come to us for poor performance or engine problems.
In every case when a FAST intake manifold was used we found via OBD-II scanning and analyzing the data that the intake due to piss poor design and quality control
1. Hole for MAP sensor was designed too large thus causing vacuum leaks and sensor to pop up over time
2. More vacuum leaks around intake edges that are not flush to engine.
3. porting around heads ports not correct.
4. Worse if unknown to owner if the stock valley pan bolts are used their heads will bend the bottom of intake and then crack over time
Worse is every dyno test we have seen showed at best almost zero gains over stock intake and in most cases due to this design poor engine functions, induced fuel use and degrading of 02 sensors as due to vacuum leaks causing imbalanced fuel trims.
