Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration
Introduction
A new body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes, the BCM will not control all of the features properly. The Tech 2 software will automatically prompt you with the RPOs available for the vehicle. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:

• The battery is fully charged.

• The ignition mode switch is in the ON position.

• All disconnected modules and devices are reconnected before programming.

A new BCM installed in the vehicle may set the DTC B1001 00 and DTC C0278 0. This is a normal condition and DTCs will clear after the BCM Setup and BPP Sensor Calibration procedures are performed.

Important: The following procedures must be performed in the order listed:

BCM Setup
BPP Sensor Calibration
BCM Setup
Important:

• After the procedure is completed, the personalization settings of the BCM are set to a default setting. Inform the customer that the personalization must be set again.

• Always perform this procedure after BCM or SDM replacement.

• A new BCM may set DTC B1001 00 before performing this procedure. This is a normal condition and DTCs will clear after the procedure is performed.

Follow the instructions on the scan tool under Vehicle Control Systems>Module Replacement/Setup Procedures>BCM>BCM Setup to perform this procedure.

During this procedure, besides RPO configuration, the BCM relearns the restraints ID.

BPP Sensor Calibration
Important:

• Always perform this procedure after the BCM was reprogrammed or after the brake pedal position sensor was replaced.

• Do not press the brake pedal during the programming procedure.

• A current DTC C0278 set by BCM before performing this procedure is a normal condition. The DTC will clear after the procedure is performed.

Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .

I have had my BCM and entire fuse block replaced to correct my wiper delay issue , so said my local dealer. I am still having issues such as my personnel settings come up as not available . Any helpful info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Steve

You need to expand on what personal settings are not getting saved as that would tell which other controllers might be involved
What year and model is your Corvette ?

Bothers me that a fuse block was replaced
Which one, in the engine bay or next to the BCM ?

Is it possible, the controllers are all connected to a network which is by the BCM
Check all connectors to make sure they are clean and firmly connected
There is some flat connectors that are for the network, assure they also are connected OK

You have access to a good OBD-II scanner or a Tech-II to query the BCM and see if all functions are working or not

Any DTC (error codes) showing up ?

Why was the BCM replaced in the first place ?

Are functions like the seats, mirrors, cabin lights, etc all work correctly when adjusted ?

My car is a 05 base model with 1SB . The personnel settings were saved for a couple weeks. I started having issues with them being not available coming up on the options display for about 4 days . Today they came back. This has happened several times since the BCM was replaced. It was replaced in the first place to correct issues with the wiper functions. I was told by the dealer that was the problem. Picked the car up and the horn would not work but it flashed the headlights like you were telling someone to pass. The dealer said it was a bad fuse block , {the one by the battery in the engine bay} , terminal . Went to pick it up and still had the same issue. Didn't make it out of the parking lot. I feel the BCM wasn't the problem in the first place. Today I got in the car and access to personal settings were back and access was available. No codes at all from the very beginning.

Sounds like the shop working on this was guessing and was not a BCM to start with
I would require they give you back your BCM
For settings to come and go seems like some connection within the BCM they put in

Most cases a wiper delay problem is within the turn signal/light stalk on steering wheel has lots of contacts inside and some times
needs to open and clean them up

Replacing the fuse block sounds total bogus and since problem happens after they did that I would demand back that money also
and then find another shop that is pros in working on Corvettes

I 100% agree with your statement. I called corporate and they basically said oh well nothing we can do. My car only has 33K miles

You really need to go back to that dealer and raise hell with upper management of what occurred, did not solve the problem and replaced the
BCM without your written OK to do so and demand they either put your BCM back in or replace theirs with a known good BCM.

Find and contact a local GM zoning office and raise hell with them as to total lack of quality by that dealer.

This could be as simple as they did not update the BCM software to any TSBs for your Z06 or configure it for the functions or options your Z06 has
or does not.

I am going to call corporate again today , I wish it was a z06. Its a base model with 1SB options. I bought the car in January and have replaced the harmonic balancer , had the auto trans serviced , put new brakes and rotors , as well as the BCM and fuse block. I love the car but this is getting spencive lol
