Well our test and tune day at Sacramento Raceway is over.
The weather was cloudy and outsde temps never got to 60 degrees. Our runs in the morning, temps were in the 40s.
Due to the cold weather the track folks only had us do our runs on the same lane, one car at a time.
For me this wa the first time running the Rebel ( Mallet 435) at the drag strip.
The rear tires are the Pirelli 335/30/18 Pzero. I set the cold air pressure down to 25 lbs.
I made six passes down the quarter mile drag strip and found two issues.
1. The tires sucked, not a good tire at all for drag racing. Even launching as low as 1,400 RPMs the tires still went up in smoke, not only in 1st but also in 2nd and 4rd gears, really killing the E.Ts.
Being a 30 series tire, not much side wall to flex and help grip the road surface.
No matter if I dumped or slipped the clutch helped get the tires from going up in smoke.
I have to find a better tire.
2. For whatever reason the shifter on the 6 speed trannie would jam in 3rd gear, why I have to fiind out. It only seems to happen at high RPM shifts and not at daily driving speeds.
We'll head back to the track in a few weeks to test and tune ome more.
